I just realized, I'm a 70 year old Minnesotan grandmother, trapped in a young Canadian's body.

Here’s a list of (reasonable) cars I want.

Kinja'd!!!

V6 Camry, specifically this generation. It was a really good, clean design, shut up.

Kinja'd!!!

Buick LaCrosse/Allure Super/CXL, because transverse V8 FWD Buick.

Kinja'd!!!

Oldsmobile 98, because it’s a big, comfy cruiser, and they’re dirt cheap.

Kinja'd!!!

Oldsmobile Achieva SCX, because warm Olds.

Kinja'd!!!

And last, but not least, an Accord wagon. These things are so rare that it’s insane, but I want one badly.

So, yes, I’m a 70 year old Minnesotan grandmother when it comes to my taste in cars.

Why Minnesotan? Fuck if I know! First place that came to my mind, I imagine there’s a lot of old people. Never been.

I would judge you, but I want a Murano CrossCab so..... I really have no room to talk.

An Accord wagon with an H-swap is a pretty nice sleeper.

The CrossCab doesn’t deserve half the hate it gets.

There’s no shame in this.

I’ve been an elderly man since I was a teenager. I love cars that appeal to them, tempered by my need for economical commuters. Hence, I own an old man car and a young man car.

I wouldn’t mind the Accord wagon or the Olds Achieva, both of those seem pretty fun actually.

Camry? Get the 4 cylinder ... the V6 has a water pump that is buried, and you’ll have to take out a second mortgage to pay for its replacement.

But fast!

(Yeah, a 4-banger would probably be better, and more economical, plus there are only 3 Camrys of that gen in my area on Autotrader, all 4 cylinders)

The last two are awesome.

The transverse V6 and V8's suck! Impossible to work on, and Toyota even tilts theirs back!

Get a 4-cylinder manual Camry :)

The SCX is an awesomely weird bird. It has that oddball quad-4 motor with the water pump running off of the timing chain. And they made a unique engine code with hotter cams just for the SCX. Getrag 5-speed. Came in red and neon blue. And they sold maybe 2000 of them total.

My mom has that generation Camry (looks to be 05/06). I like Toyota and that’s still a bad Toyota. Steering is numb compared to my LS400... Yeah it’s that numb. Like numb numb. Like numb numb numb. The only thing you feel is torque steer and numbeness. The gas mileage is okay but that's it. Get an ES instead.

There is a mint Accord wagon in the Honda museum in Torrance. Don’t think I’ll ever see one again.

Ha! This was the last generation of Camry sold in my market. It sold so horrendously it got it cancelled. They were very rare when new, and even more so today given the active export of older barges no one wants to Africa. Peak market share, its first full year, was 0.11%. 0.04% two years later.
